The Authors Den Antiques Window Sign

Gold leaf window signs designed and painted for The Author’s Den Antiques in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.

Bestselling children’s author Pamela Butchart contacted me when she decided to combine her writing home with her love of antiques and asked me to design and sign write the shop windows in gold leaf.

The overall design was inspired by Victorian book covers, using period letter styles and floral elements in the borders and scroll work.

The design is painted in reverse on the inside of the window before applying 23.5ct gold leaf, 12ct white gold leaf, variegated copper leaf and mother of pearl. The shading on the letters and borders are blended salmon pink, maroon and white signwriter’s enamel paint.
